Bulut mu Olsam

Denizin üstünde ala bulut
yüzünde gümüş gemi
içinde sarı balık
dibinde mavi yosun
kıyıda bir çıplak adam
durmuş düşünür.
Bulut mu olsam,
gemi mi yoksa?
Balık mı olsam,
yosun mu yoksa?..
Ne o, ne o, ne o.
Deniz olunmalı, oğlum,
bulutuyla, gemisiyle, balığıyla, yosunuyla.

Shall i be a cloud

A colorful cloud above the sea
a silver ship on the surface
a yellow fish inside
a blue moss on the bottom
a naked man by the shore
keeps on thinking.

Shall i be a cloud,
or ship?
Shall i be a fish,
or moss?
Neither this, nor that, nor that.
You have to be the sea itself, son,
with its cloud, ship, fish, moss.
